Hi, I’m Carrie.
I’m a registered practising midwife, antenatal educator and founder of The Coastal Birth Club.
After more than 13 years supporting women and families through pregnancy, labour, birth and the early days of parenthood, I created The Coastal Birth Club because I believe antenatal education can be so much more than simply learning about labour and birth.
Pregnancy and birth are some of the biggest transitions we experience in life, yet so many women enter them feeling anxious, overwhelmed or disconnected from their bodies. I wanted to create the kind of classes I would have chosen myself — evidence-based, welcoming, supportive and genuinely enjoyable to attend.
Drawing on my experience as a practising midwife, alongside specialist training in antenatal and postnatal education, hypnobirthing and biomechanics for birth, I help families understand how birth works, explore their options, build confidence and prepare for life with a new baby.
The Coastal Birth Club offers modern antenatal education, birth preparation, hypnobirthing, postnatal preparation, workshops and community events for growing families across East Devon. My classes combine current maternity knowledge with practical tools, honest conversations and a calm, supportive environment where questions are always welcome.
I am passionate about helping women prepare not only for birth, but for motherhood too. Birth preparation is about far more than learning what happens during labour. It is an opportunity to pause, reflect, build confidence, nurture your wellbeing and develop a deeper trust in yourself as you prepare to welcome your baby.
Above all, I want every family to leave feeling informed, supported and empowered to make decisions that are right for them. The Coastal Birth Club is also a place to build your village, connect with other expectant parents and create friendships that often continue long after your baby arrives.
Whether you are expecting your first baby or growing your family, you are so welcome here.
